If you have never had a sopapilla dripping in honey, you are missing out! As a teenager that was uprooted from the Midwest and dropped right in the middle of the authentic southwest, this did not look like a "normal" dessert to me!
I was soon converted though. These yummy treats are rolled out and cut into triangles and then deep fried until they puff up. When still hot, you roll back the puff and add a generous amount of honey for a perfect treat. Try dipping in a sugar and cinnamon mixture when still wet from the oil for another amazing version.
